“Yellow Lights” – DVD is printing!

As Tom described it, this is “a big moment”! I have placed the order for the production run of Yellow Lights on DVD. If all goes as planned, two weeks from now (June 14th) I should have the DVDs in hand and I will be able to start shipping orders placed on our store.

The soundtrack production order will be placed sometime later this week!

“Yellow Lights” – DVD being proofed

After many painful hours dealing with rendering and figuring how best to write to a dual-layer DVD, the Yellow Lights DVD is currently being proofed and tested out to make sure that if you get a copy, there will be absolutely no bugs in the disc authoring.

The production printing of the DVD and Soundtrack will likely take place early next week with a hopeful in-hand date around the 2nd week of June!

We’re also getting some assistance with the artwork for both the DVD and soundtrack from a friend of Tom’s, and I must say the new artwork is looking mighty fine!

“Yellow Lights” – Store Going Live Shortly

The Yellow Lights DVD is in the process of getting finalized and the production order should be happening within a week. This DVD will have lots of special features as well as a 30-minute behind the scenes documentary of the making of Yellow Lights with all-new cast and crew interviews as well a hilarious blooper reel.

The website store will be up within a couple days from now so that we can start taking pre-orders for once I have the DVDs in my hands ready to ship. We’ll also have digital and CD versions of the awesome soundtrack available for order.

Stay tuned and keep checking out the website!

“Yellow Lights” – Festival Update

Originally posted at YellowLightsMovie.com:

Since the last time Tom posted in October, we have now entered Yellow Lights into 13 festivals far including Sundance, SXSW, Seattle, 2 in Boston, Phoenix, and more, and we’ve just started to hear back.

Unfortunately, Sundance did not select Yellow Lights to be a part of the 2007 Festival. We knew our odds wouldn’t be great because they only choose 16 films in the Independent Narrative category out of several hundred submissions.

We still plan to enter Yellow Lights into another 5-6 festivals that will be opening later in the year and have many still to hear back from. We’ll be sure to post with our progress as well as screening dates for any festivals we do get into.

Also, in October, I visited Olin’s campus in Boston and recorded a director’s commentary with Tom and Bennett Chabot (Brian in the movie). We also recorded my portion of the behind-the-scenes documentary that you will be able to watch on the DVD coming out next year.

We also got together as many of the cast and crew as we could and took them out for a Thank You dinner for all of the hard work that was put into the making of Yellow Lights. You can view pictures from this reunion dinner on the Flickr: Yellow Lights photoset.

We’re still definitely hoping to shop Yellow Lights around and find a distributor, so make sure to tell your friends to come to our website and check out the trailer!

“Yellow Lights” – Submitted to Sundance

Originally posted at YellowLightsMovie.com:

As I write this post, a finished copy of Yellow Lights is on its way to the Sundance Institute’s LA office to be reviewed for possible inclusion in the 2007 Sundance Film Festival. Unfortunately, we will not hear back until December if we’re selected, and if we’re not selected, we may not hear anything at all!

So now that the movie is finished, Tom and I are beginning work on the special features for the DVD to be on sale at some point in the future, possibly on this very site! Things we plan to make are a full behind-the-scenes documentary with interviews of all the cast and some of the crew, a deleted scene, blooper reel, and much more to come. I don’t want to give away all of our surprises.

We’re also trying to finish up the trailer. Right now, we’re just trying to add some music to it to give it some more character.

Add Yellow Lights as a MySpace friend and help get the buzz going for our movie! The more people are talking about us, the better chance we have of getting into festivals and having Yellow Lights go somewhere!

Keep checking the website to find out how things are coming along with the movie as Yellow Lights slowly starts up its festival run.

“Yellow Lights” – Still Hard At Work

Originally posted at YellowLightsMovie.com:

Although there hasn’t been many updates on the site in a while, it doesn’t mean that we haven’t been working on the movie. In fact, since the last post, Tom and I both graduated from Olin College and I drove 3100 miles back across the country to my parent’s home in San Diego.

We’ve been having a lot of issues getting Adobe Premiere to give us a full render of the movie. Kinda makes it difficult to show people when it crashes on us every time we render it.

We’re also incorporating some of the feedback we received at the Olin test screening and tinkering around with things. We’re also just doing general audio and video cleanup as we were definitely rushing to get things done to show at Olin on May 17th.

And those of you on the mailing list, don’t fear. Although I haven’t sent out an update in a while, I promise you one is forthcoming.
