“Yellow Lights” – Submitted to Sundance

Originally posted at YellowLightsMovie.com:

As I write this post, a finished copy of Yellow Lights is on its way to the Sundance Institute’s LA office to be reviewed for possible inclusion in the 2007 Sundance Film Festival. Unfortunately, we will not hear back until December if we’re selected, and if we’re not selected, we may not hear anything at all!

So now that the movie is finished, Tom and I are beginning work on the special features for the DVD to be on sale at some point in the future, possibly on this very site! Things we plan to make are a full behind-the-scenes documentary with interviews of all the cast and some of the crew, a deleted scene, blooper reel, and much more to come. I don’t want to give away all of our surprises.

We’re also trying to finish up the trailer. Right now, we’re just trying to add some music to it to give it some more character.

Add Yellow Lights as a MySpace friend and help get the buzz going for our movie! The more people are talking about us, the better chance we have of getting into festivals and having Yellow Lights go somewhere!

Keep checking the website to find out how things are coming along with the movie as Yellow Lights slowly starts up its festival run.

“Yellow Lights” – Still Hard At Work

Although there hasn’t been many updates on the site in a while, it doesn’t mean that we haven’t been working on the movie. In fact, since the last post, Tom and I both graduated from Olin College and I drove 3100 miles back across the country to my parent’s home in San Diego.

We’ve been having a lot of issues getting Adobe Premiere to give us a full render of the movie. Kinda makes it difficult to show people when it crashes on us every time we render it.

We’re also incorporating some of the feedback we received at the Olin test screening and tinkering around with things. We’re also just doing general audio and video cleanup as we were definitely rushing to get things done to show at Olin on May 17th.

And those of you on the mailing list, don’t fear. Although I haven’t sent out an update in a while, I promise you one is forthcoming.

“Yellow Lights” – Almost There!!!

There’s less than 100 hours until the first screening of Yellow Lights. Tom and I have been working feverishly (no joke, I’ve been sick for the last week and Tom had mono before that!) on getting the movie finished in time.

We’re doing final dubbing with the actors for scenes where the dialogue did not come out well. We also had a meeting to work on the score with musicians Sean McBride and Brian Shih. Their full set of tracks should be in the festival-finish version.

If you’d like to see Yellow Lights in its current pre-festival form, come to the Olin College Auditorium on May 17th at 7PM. There is no charge for admission. Hope to see you there!

Now back to work on the editing…

“Yellow Lights” – Progress is Slowly Coming Along

Originally posted at YellowLightsMovie.com:

We’ve been slowly making progress on the first edit of Yellow Lights. We’re not quite as far in our edit as we’d like to be at this point because there’s been a ton of work for school that had to get done and Tom has just gotten pretty damn sick. Hopefully, he’ll be better soon and that we’ll be able to get our movie ready in time for our Olin College test screening on the evening of May 17th.

The version we show that night may not have final music or SFX, but it should be far enough along that those who come to see it will feel like they’ve seen a finished movie and not just a work in progress.

Here’s to good health for Tom!

Word about our movie is slowly starting to get out there. We got a little blurb about us in The Swellesley Report (www.theswellesleyreport.com) today. We can always use more exposure though, so please keep telling your friends about us, sign up for the mailing list, and help us to get a distribution deal!

“Yellow Lights” – Long Weekend

Originally posted at YellowLightsMovie.com:

So we have finally just finished Shooting Weekend 6, the longest of all of our shooting weekends. We filmed all of the scenes taking place in Alex’s room, a scene at White Mountain Creamery with 15 extras and plenty of ice cream, and some of the traveling car shots.

We also shot the stills for our movie poster! Granted, we had to get up extremely early after our late-night shoot last night in order to be up for the first rays of sunrise for our photo shoot. As soon as we get the poster ready, we’ll put it up on the site.

Things are starting to wind down in principal photography, but we are by no means finishing up on this project. We still have 2 shooting weekends to go and then 2+ months of editing and audio work!

Check for photos from this weekend within the next few days!

“Yellow Lights” – Weekend 4

Originally posted at YellowLightsMovie.com:

Shooting has just wrapped on Weekend 4 of filming. On Saturday night we completed our largest scene with extras yet, the second party scene. Hopefully, we’ll be able to get enough extras for next week’s party as well. If you’re interested in being an extra for Saturday, February 11th’s party scene (and are 21+), please contact Producer Tom Kochem.

At this point, we’re about halfway finished with principal photography. We still plan on finishing shooting in early- to mid-March (which will be here sooner than we realize) and then editing for a first version to be finished by May 17th for the Olin College test screening.

“Yellow Lights” – Back to Work

Originally posted at YellowLightsMovie.com:

The spring semester at Olin College is about to start tomorrow and Tom and I are already back at work on Yellow Lights. I flew into Boston on Saturday evening so we could spend some time going over scheduling for the six remaining weekends of shooting.

Today we spent three hours out in the cold scouting locations for our Wellesley College and Wellesley Center shots. We’re pretty confident that we’ve found some good locations, but now we need to hope that the weather works in our favor for the varying shots that we’ll need.

This week, we’ll be rehearsing this weekend’s scenes (Classroom & Dining Hall scenes) as well as all of the remaining scenes with Amanda (June) since she’ll be moving to New York this weekend and her time to work on the movie with us will become much more limited.

We’re still looking for extras (especially males) for the upcoming shoots. If you’re interested and in the ages of 17-27, email myself or Tom.
